Ron represents both sides in civil disputes, including trials and appeals in State and Federal Courts and in arbitration. He frequently counsels clients to resolve disputes early, to avoid the expense and risks of litigation.

Ron’s practice involves representation of health care clients on medical staff peer review issues, insurance companies in coverage and bad faith matters, policyholders in contested coverage matters, businesses in ownership disputes, buyers and sellers in disputed transactions, maritime clients on insurance issues, casualties and disputed transactions, aviation clients on a broad range of matters, labor organizations, ERISA plans and beneficiaries in disputed matters, and many individuals.

Ron practiced as an engineer in hospitals throughout Northern Michigan before studying law at Gonzaga University School of Law (JD 1975, cum laude) where he served on the Law Review.

Ron’s Martindale-Hubbell rating is AV. He has been named to the list of Alaska Super Lawyers multiple times, most recently in 2010 in the area of Business Litigation. He has also received recognition as one of a distinguished group of attorneys who have now been listed in Best Lawyers® for ten years or longer.

Ron is an instrument rated private pilot who shares ownership with Jim Wilkens of a Cessna 206 which they fly on floats in the summer and wheels in the winter. He is an avid fly fisherman and cyclist. He and his wife Barb are proud parents of Dean and Emily.
